How to use the High Lift Donors CFY JAN analysis

This analysis identifies and ranks donors who have significantly increased their giving during January of the current fiscal year compared to their own historical giving average for that same month over the prior three years.  The analysis draws on your Gifts and Constituents data, assessing each donor's giving in January for the last three fiscal years and comparing that average to their giving in January this year.

Key columns include the donor's name, their average giving in January over the past three years, their current January giving, and the incremental lift, both in dollar value and percent increase. These metrics provide a precise and individualized view of donor momentum. The inclusion of both individual and organizational donor names helps you tailor outreach, while the calculated lift highlights those with the greatest surge in engagement. This supporting information enables you to craft highly personalized stewardship and solicitation strategies.

Strategically, use this analysis to prioritize which donors are most likely to be receptive to deeper engagement, recognition, or targeted requests. Fundraising directors and frontline development officers should review this analysis, as it surfaces donors whose increased support may signal readiness for an upgrade conversation, affinity for your mission, or the success of recent cultivation efforts. Consider reaching out to these high-lift donors with personalized thank you messages, invitations to exclusive events, or opportunities for further involvement. Additionally, analyze whether any cultivation tactics used with these donors can be applied to broader segments.

Success can be measured by tracking subsequent retention rates, upgrade rates, and overall giving among the high-lift segment. You should also evaluate the response to targeted stewardship efforts prompted by this analysis. This analysis is recommended to be reviewed periodically as part of your Constituent Intelligence routines, allowing you to consistently identify and celebrate donors who are progressing upward in their giving journey and maximize the impact of your fundraising efforts.
